Suddenly Trump is everybody's darling, and it is partly understandable due to his courage. But courage is easy when you are filthy rich and ultimately have no worries. He seems to me to share only some of Conservative Americans' values (I question his faith or perhaps lack of it, not sure), and I'm sure that Jeb Bush is closer in philosophy to many of us than Trump could ever be. My fellow Conservatives are making me laugh almost hysterically right now because I am watching the bandwagon herd mentality of these folks that think of themselves as such free thinkers. You are more entertaining than watching liberals because you are (hopefully) less dangerous for the country. That is unless you elect a demagogue.
On this immigration thing, I've made myself clear on so many social media threads and on my own website and blog. [ I'm married into a legal immigrant family from the Philippines, by the way_ one that is very patriotic and professionally accomplished and that has contributed several military personnel, including graduates of all 3 academies.] But on the larger illegal immigrant issue_ 1. seal the border; 2. get rid of the criminals once and for all (not calling them criminals just for the illegal act of sneaking in); 3. screen the others and deport the freeloaders, etc.; 4. find the ones who have become positive contributing people and families, with their lives vested here, and give them a path to legal status and ultimately citizenship. Some classes for immigrants (legal or otherwise) on American history and citizenship from the Conservative traditional point of view are needed, and a conservative government needs to set that up. But to kick them all out would be morally wrong and make us look like Hitler's Nazis.
