Someone has pointed out that the current pope has a masters degree in chemistry. I do not know if that is true, but I do know that probably has a limited contribution to one's understanding of climate issues. Without good guidance, he is probably little more educated on the issue than the rest of us.
I'm not sure if the claims that the Vatican is embracing the UN mantra on climate change are true or not either. I do know that in the standard, current petition prayers in mass, climate change and social justice are often prayed for (but not by me; I abstain).
What is clear its that 'climate change' and 'social justice' (whether the latter was begun on good intentions or not) are now the marching slogans of redistribution of the world's wealth outside of the intended scenario of the Creator. While trying to teach us to care and share, God did not create a socialist society nor condone a socialist and communist world.
If the term 'social justice' was originally coined by the Catholic Church (as I have been told), it has been hijacked by the political leftists. If the Church views the current socialist liberal understanding of 'social justice' as the correct one, then the Church is wrong. Thank God I can ignore this with a clear conscience.
We follow the pope's leadership in spiritual matters and listen (and judge for ourselves) on all topics. Only the most core of spiritual issues have reached the 'infallible' level (2 in 200 years). But thank God, Catholics are not sheep in the common sense of the word but only in the sense that Christ used the analogy.
